Fourthline helps a large life insurer to hire a Senior Risk Analyst

Our client was a large life insurer based in London.

The issue:

Following a recent C level hire, the Risk Management team of our Client had gone through a restructure and multiple new roles had been created because of growth and investment in the second line. Having worked with the business previously and having successfully placed a compliance professional in the wider team, we were introduced to the CRO to help hire a Senior Risk Analyst.

The solution:

FourthLine has over nine years’ experience recruiting for enterprise and operational risk professionals within the Insurance market. Our Insurance focused team proactively qualify over thirty new candidates every week and therefore have excellent knowledge of the passive and active risk management candidates in the market. Following an initial briefing with our HR contact, FourthLine arranged a call with the newly appointed Chief Risk Officer. We took the time to understand their previous experience and their vision for the Risk function for the future. We identified the most important technical and soft skills the CRO was to hire and the impact of securing or not securing the right candidate. As always, we prioritised time to talk through the type of culture the CRO wanted to create and the kinds of profiles that had worked with her successfully in the past.

We shortlisted multiple candidates but were initially unsuccessful. Over several weeks, we kept in touch with HR and the CRO to communicate the work that we had done to attract the right candidates, providing regular updates and feedback from the market. Having worked with the client over a number of months now on various assignments, we were confident of filling the role and providing a reliable service to our client. The successful candidate went through three stages over a two-week period and will be starting with the firm in April 2018.
