Our client was a Top 50 national law firm based in London. Their Head of Corporate got in touch with FourthLine as we had previously established an excellent working relationship.
The client was looking to grow their Life Sciences practice, and as such required a specialist Life Sciences Corporate Lawyer. This would be quite a senior role and required someone with at least eight years’ experience and an established presence within the market. Something of a niche hire, it was likely that candidates would need to come from specialist Life Sciences firms. It was, however, a hire of critical importance for the firm.
FourthLine took a thorough brief from the client and began the process of mapping out the market. This was an exciting challenge for FourthLine and would require the identification of new candidates outside of our network.
Four candidates were identified and put forward, of which two made it through to the final stage a 3-week interview process. Both candidates in the final stage were of an incredibly high standard and met all the criteria the client was looking for, leaving them with a difficult decision to make.
Some skilled candidate management was required, as this opportunity was paying less than the successful candidate’s current role. However, we were able to persuade the candidate about the fantastic opportunity that was available and its long-term benefits, so the candidate accepted a significant pay cut.
