My client is seeking a Data Protection Officer to join the firm. This company is an Investments and Mortgage provider, based in the South West of London.

Seeking an experienced Data Privacy Professional who can implement the company’s approach to data protection across the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and oversee the GDPR strategy
  • Be the point of contact for all privacy matters, advising on data privacy laws
  • Oversee and manage any potential breaches
  • Draft and implement up to date policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date with privacy developments and regulations.
  • Work closely with senior management and key stakeholders on privacy matters, advising and ensuring they are regularly updated.
  • Deliver training and promote privacy awareness across group.

Essential:

  • 3+ years data protection and privacy experience
  • Self-starter and able to positively influence people within organisation
  • Experience maintaining a privacy compliance programme
  • Developing a data privacy strategy across business
  • Experience of improving data privacy projects/operations

Desired:

  • CIPP/E or CIPM or Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection/Privacy
  • Financial Services experience – favourable although not essential
  • Strong people skills, adaptive to different environments
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Thrive in challenging environment

Day to day of this role

  • Work with teams across the business to ensure that data protection risks are identified and all personal information processing activities comply with the GDPR and national regulations.
  • Liaise with business units to build an understanding of privacy risks related to their data processing and advise on how to mitigate risks.
  • Embed Privacy by Design into business processes.
  • Work with the team to carry out training and awareness, review policies and procedures, complete testing and monitoring to ensure compliance with the firm's privacy framework.
  • Insert privacy language into contracts with third party providers.
  • Provide assessments and documentation of privacy risks with proposed plans to mitigate the risks.
  • Manage the response to privacy incidents.
  • Process and complete SARs and DPIA.
  • Liase with the regulator and notify any data breaches through the set up breach processes.

Your experience

  • Strong experience in a previous privacy, legal or compliance function working to the GDPR.
  • Capability to work autonomously and provide privacy advice to a complex organisation.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment within a large organisation.
  • Ability to engage with a wide range stakeholders, across work streams at all levels of seniority.

FourthLine are exclusively representing an up and coming financial technology provider as they look to hire a Regulatory Authorisations Manager to their expanding London operation. Life of the Data Protection Manager...

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert to ensure the organisation is compliant with the GDPR, the UK's DPA 2018 and other regulations that will impact the business.

  • Carry out DPIAs with each business unit to ensure implementation.

  • Maintain policies and procedures.

  • Strong experience as a privacy advisor for a commercial business.
  • In depth understanding of the GDPR and the DPA 2018.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design, implementation and delivery of the risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme across all regulated firms within the business.
