Job Title: Compliance Analyst



Ensure the Group`s compliance with all statutory obligations

  • Gain and maintain a full understanding of the Group`s statutory obligations under the Financial Services & Markets Act 2000 and any other worldwide regulatory requirements, including subsequent updates.


Ensuring the Group`s compliance with all regulatory requirements

  • Provision of advice and guidance to the Group companies, business and divisions on a day to day basis.
  • Assist with industry and regulatory projects, disseminating information, and working with the business to implement enhancements/changes as appropriate.
  • Preparation and implementation of policies and procedures to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Attend external briefings and market forums to remain up to date with regulatory developments in the General Insurance Sector.
  • Assisting in the preparation of non-financial aspects of regular returns to the FCA.
  • Co?ordination and implementation for the circulation of market intelligence and other regulatory updates throughout the Group.


Executing the Group Compliance Annual Monitoring Plans

  • Assist with the development of the risk based annual Compliance Monitoring Plan.
  • Conduct annual 2LOD monitoring / thematic monitoring reviews, as per the annual plan, and produce reports of findings.
  • Work with the business to implement plans and solutions to those compliance findings.


Ensuring the Group`s 3LOD Internal Audit Plans are achieved

  • Assist the Compliance Manager with the provision of information to the Internal Auditors.
  • Assist the Group business in understanding what needs to be implemented and evidenced in order to close off relevant Audit findings.


Compliance with all Financial Crime and Sanctions responsibilities

  • Review Sanction queries from the business (including conducting necessary research) and report to the Compliance Manager where necessary.
  • Answer day to day business sanctions queries and questions.
  • Increase staff awareness of Financial Crime and Sanctions issues including the distribution of relevant information / publications to the business.


Assisting with the File Review Programme

  • Assisting the Compliance Manager in attending internal file review finding meetings and monitoring of follow-up actions, plans, schedules etc.


ARs, IARs and Introducers

  • Assist in the on-boarding of all new ARs, IARs and Introducers / Overseas Introducers.
  • Assist in the 2LOD monitoring of the above in line with the annual Compliance monitoring plan.


E&O claims, Complaints, Conflicts of Interest and other regulatory issues

  • Identification of emerging issues / Breaches / Complaints / Errors & Omissions, and work with Team members to inform them of such issues, in order that they are suitably addressed and that the relevant registers and files are updated.


Confidentiality, Exclusivity, Terms of Business, New Account and other Business / Legal documentation

  • Assisting in reviewing / agreeing various items of documentation/agreements, and seeking advice where necessary from the Compliance Manager/Director and/or Griffin.
  • Ensuring agreements are in place with all third parties with whom business is conducted.


Overseas Registration

  • Assist in the accumulation of information for and securing renewal of overseas registrations and licences.



  • To assist the Compliance Manager / Director with other relevant activities i.e.
    • Transitioning of 1LOD activities to the business
    • Development of Compliance oversight
    • Assist in larger Compliance project work
    • Annual Compliance Plan activities

Knowledge Required

  • Good knowledge of FCA Handbook rules, including PRIN, SYSC, ICOBS etc.
  • Minimum of 2 years` Compliance and General Insurance experience.
  • Demonstrative experience of working in a 2LOD Compliance function, and whom can execute various oversight responsibilities.

Regulatory Auditor Insurance London - £65K

FourthLine is currently supporting a global reinsurance business in their search for a Regulatory Auditor to join their City based team.  The role is a replacement role which helps the organisation bridge the complex and dual challenge of both regulation and audit facing the business.

As Regulatory Auditor, you will be working in a small team of three alongside the Risk Manager and reporting to the Risk and Compliance Director.  The key function of the role is to offer Audit leadership with a sprinkling of regulatory advice to the business.  As Regulatory Auditor, you will take full responsibility for the annual audit plan; inputting information into the plan, risk based analysis to identify focus, plan which parts of the business you will audit and how often and then put together detailed and rigorous reports on areas of concern and then supply recommendations of how to overcome those concerns.  These reports will be scrutinised by the board who sign off on the recommendations and the Regulatory Auditor will then be responsible for carrying out all follow up actions.  Additional responsibilities include regulatory horizon scanning, some sanctions and some regulatory advisory work.

As Regulatory Auditor, you will have a solid background in Internal or External Audit with a recognised Accountancy, Audit or Insurance qualification.  Financial services experience is a must and experience or an understanding of underwriting and the insurance sector is desirable but not essential.  This is a role which requires you to build strong relationships up to CEO and so you should be approachable and pragmatic but be happy to stand firm on your recommendations.  Key to the role is rigorous analysis and the ability to write detailed reports and provide recommendations and you will be able to demonstrate expertise in both areas.  The role offers autonomy and is a high profile position in the firm and so will suit someone able to hit the ground running.
