Efficiently managing resource growth of a Consultancy's regulatory practice

Mid-tier Audit and Advisory Firm

The Challenge

A mid-tier Audit and Advisory firm needed a revenue generating Senior Regulatory Manager to help continue the growth of a new practice. Having started their search with a generic agency, they decided to improve results through engagement with FourthLine as a specialist provider.

Service

FourthLine held an existing relationship with the firm through association with another of our service lines and arranged a meeting to discuss their needs. The agreed best course of action was to use our Permanent Contingent service.

Approach

  • Through comprehensive questioning, we identified and gained a clear understanding of the job specification, enabling us to search for the best candidates, eliminating risks to time and cost.
  • Our service operates on a basis which places all delivery risk on us, there is no upfront cost commitment as fees are only generated if we make a successful placement. Therefore we guarantee a thorough qualification of our clients’ needs and transparency throughout.
  • We used our Core Competency Framework (CCF) to identify the best candidate for the role.   This tool was developed through research and analysis in our specialist disciplines and via in-depth interviews and surveys with industry experts to identify the skills and behaviours of the top 20% of Regulatory Compliance talent. In this case these skills included; extensive compliance framework design and implementation experience, varied blend of financial services experience including industry and consulting as well as curiosity and an inquisitive approach.

Results

We presented 4 CVs via conference call – all of which we were working with exclusively including one person in the first week of their search. 
We managed the interviews efficiently, preparing each of our candidates for the opportunity. Once the position was offered, our post-interview negotiation stage did not present any issues because we held a strong relationship with both the client and candidate and ensured all parties were transparent throughout.
