Offering an Interim solution to a complex project delivery

Asset Management firm - Fixed Income & Equity

The Challenge

An Asset Management firm specialising in Fixed Income and Equity products faced a difficult recruitment problem when they required a professional to deliver contrasting regulatory projects. Frustrated by the lack of understanding from other agencies, they engaged FourthLine with a hope to fulfil their complex hiring needs. Through our ‘built on knowledge’ approach and highly trained Consultants, we used requirements gathering skills to successfully scope and deliver an Interim solution.

Service

The business opted for our Interim Management service as they required an immediate injection of delivery expertise into the project. They required a professional with experience across contrasting projects - PRIIPS and SFTR - and the candidate base is limited due to the recent introduction of SFTR regulation. 

Approach

  • Through comprehensive questioning, we identified and gained a clear understanding of the job specification, enabling us to search for the best candidates, eliminating risks to time and cost.
  • Our service operates on a basis which places all delivery risk on us, there is no upfront cost commitment as fees are only generated if we make a successful placement. Therefore we guarantee a thorough qualification of our clients’ needs and transparency throughout.
  • We used our Core Competency Framework (CCF) to identify the best candidate for the role. This tool was developed through research and analysis in our specialist disciplines and via in-depth interviews and surveys with industry experts to identify the skills and behaviours of the top 20% of Market Infrastructure talent. In this case these skills included; Major organisational change experience linked to firm strategy, granularity of focus / detail orientated and adaptive communication skills.

Results
In a face-to-face meeting, we presented the firm with 3 of our trusted associates, allowing us the opportunity to use our CCF tool to further tap into their soft skills and behaviours. Here we also provided them with peer-assessment results.

Our candidates were interviewed shortly after the meeting and we ensured they were fully prepared for the interview process.  Our CCF tool meant we could also further tap into the required soft skills and behaviours necessary and the client offered one of our candidates the position. 

Post-interview negotiations coincided with the festive period, which challenged our predetermined timescales but we managed the agreement swiftly and our associate started immediately after the New Year.
We provided our client with an Assignment Quality Report and received positive feedback regarding our candidate and the Interim Management service they received.
